Sequential Beauty
lot84, in collaboration with Kiesendahl+Calhoun Fine Art, Ltd.(www.kandcgallery.com) is presenting photographer Simo Neri’s limited edition color prints. An opening reception with Simo Neri will be held at lot84 in Mt. Kisco, NY on Sunday, September 20th from 2-5pm . The exhibition will remain on display at lot84 thru December 6th .
Born in Rome and now living in Paris, Simo Neri photographs fragments of flower petals, bamboo water reeds, bark , book bindings and other objects from the natural and constructed world. Her photographs combine the stillness of close-up photography with the frame by frame sequencing of cinema. Simo’s photo-mosaics create a kaleidoscopic image that compels us to reinterpret familiar things. In reconstructing these abstracted parts, we delight in the puzzle while simultaneously meditating on their sequential beauty.
Neri has exhibited in Beacon, NY in 2005 with Kiesendahl+Calhoun Fine Art, at the Cooper Hewitt in New York, and in Paris, Tokyo, San Francisco, Mexico, Los Angeles and at the Biennale of Venice. Installations of her photo curtains have been at the Alliance Francaise, the Minstry of Economics and Industry, at the World Trade Center of Osaka, Japan, among other locations. After living in California for fifteen years, Neri settled in France with her family. The artist’s work is a product of her studies in Fine Arts, Philosophy and Psychology.
